Quitman Release Mugshot Records
A booking photograph is created at intake. It belongs to the booking record, not to a live statement about guilt or custody. Release does not automatically erase it. Georgia also does not treat access as an unlimited publication right. O.C.G.A. 35-1-19 restricts release when a photo may be posted and removal requires payment.
Where Quitman Mugshots Appear
No official county photo feed or sheriff app was confirmed. Each remaining source has limited scope.
| Channel | Photo access |
|---|---|
| Quitman County Sheriff | Request the specific booking photo |
| GDC offender search | Photo displays when available for a state record |
| GBI registry | Registry-covered persons only |
| Regional news | Event-specific images, not a release list |
Third-party pages may be stale or confuse Quitman County with the City of Quitman in Brooks County. Verify every image at its official source.
No Quitman Photo Feed
The official sheriff page did not expose a roster or gallery. No official mobile app was captured. The Jail Releases: 24 Hours page therefore uses direct records and notification paths. A missing web photo does not mean no booking occurred.
Request Quitman Booking Photos
Send a focused request to the sheriff. Georgia's usual response period is three business days to produce available records or explain access and timing. Reasonable search, retrieval, redaction, and copy costs may apply under O.C.G.A. 50-18-71.
- Give the full name, birth date, booking date, and case detail.
- Ask whether the photograph exists and is releasable.
- State that it is not for remove-for-pay publication barred by Georgia law.
- Request a cost estimate before work begins.
- Keep the response with the linked jail and court records.
Quitman Release News Photos
WALB's Quitman County coverage and GBI releases may include an agency image in an unusual event. They are not daily booking archives. A news image gives context but does not confirm release. Commercial aggregators are weaker and must be checked against the sheriff, court, GDC, or another record owner.
Remove Commercial Mugshot Copies
The Georgia Attorney General explains O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.5. A qualifying person can send a written request requiring a commercial mugshot site to remove an image without charge under the statute's process. That remedy does not erase the official jail or court file.

The state source concerns qualifying commercial copies, not deletion of the official booking record.
Quitman Registry Photo Limits
The GBI Sex Offender Registry may show a photo for a person required to register. It is not a general released-inmate list. GBI notes that data comes from other agencies and changes often, so confirm key facts with the responsible sheriff or GBI.
Georgia record restriction does not guarantee that every old third-party copy vanishes. Direct a correction or restriction request to the office that controls the record. Use the Quitman County release record to verify discharge separately from any photo.
Georgia Booking Photo Limits
O.C.G.A. 35-1-19 is a release restriction for law-enforcement agencies when a booking photograph may go to an online or print publication that demands payment or other value for deletion. It does not mean that every booking photograph is categorically closed. It means the sheriff must evaluate the request and intended use under the statute.
A focused, purpose-neutral request helps that review. Ask for one identified booking and explain that the image is sought for personal identification, release-record verification, or a court process. The agency may ask for more facts or issue a written explanation. Do not seek bulk photos or ask the sheriff to endorse a third-party copy.
The separate Attorney General process applies to qualifying commercial sites. It cannot rewrite the sheriff's original record. If the official file itself is wrong, send the correction to the agency that created the disputed field.
Photos Do Not Confirm Release
A booking photo proves only that an image was associated with an intake record. To verify a Quitman County jail release, ask for the sheriff's discharge entry. For a state-prison release, read GDC's actual-release date and inactive status. For parole, check PAP and DCS. A photo can remain online long after those statuses change.
The absence of a photo proves little. The agency may not publish images, a record may be restricted, the request may fall within Georgia's booking-photo limit, or the source may not retain a public image. Use text records and agency confirmation first.
A GDC image belongs to a state corrections record. A GBI registry image belongs to a registry record. A news image belongs to a specific report. Keeping those labels intact prevents a photo from being presented as a current Quitman County jail mugshot when it is not.
Check Quitman Photo Identity
Match more than a name. Use birth year, booking date, charge, agency, case number, and physical descriptors where lawfully shown. This is especially important when a news report or third-party page omits the booking number. The wrong-county risk is real because Quitman County and the City of Quitman in Brooks County are different places.
Check the publication and event dates. News sites can reuse an older agency photo, and commercial pages may keep stale copies. Then compare the image with the sheriff, court, or GDC source. If sources conflict, rely on the record owner and request a correction from the publisher of the inaccurate copy.
Georgia VINE is built for custody information and notifications. Any image display is feed-dependent, so VINE should not be treated as a permanent photo archive. It can alert a user to a status change while the official release record supplies the legal detail.
Quitman Photo Request Response
Georgia's open-records process requires a response generally within three business days, but that response may explain when a record can be produced rather than include the photo immediately. The agency can account for lawful retrieval, review, and redaction work. Ask for an estimate if cost matters and narrow the request to one booking.
A useful request names the record: "the booking photograph associated with the jail booking of [name] on [date]." Include a birth date or booking number when known. Also ask for the commitment and discharge record if the goal includes release verification. That second record can connect the image to the booking, charge, discharge order, issuing court, and release event.
If the sheriff withholds the image under O.C.G.A. 35-1-19 or another basis, keep the written response. Do not work around the decision by presenting an unverified commercial image as official. The court disposition and discharge entry can still answer the custody and case questions without a photograph.
GDC Photos After Quitman Cases
A Quitman County arrest can later produce a state prison sentence. At that point, GDC's Find an Offender record becomes the relevant state source. Photographs, when available, display automatically with identifiers, physical description, offense, institution, sentence, and release fields.
A GDC photograph is not necessarily the county booking photograph. It belongs to the state corrections record and may have been taken at another stage. Use GDC ID, birth year, aliases, physical details, and sentence history to match the person. Then read current status and actual release date to understand whether state custody ended.
If the person never entered GDC, no state photo channel may exist. A brief jail stay, bond release, dismissal, or local sentence does not by itself create a GDC offender page. Return to the Quitman County Sheriff's Office for the local booking record.
Correct Quitman Photo Records
Send an official-record error to the office that owns it. The sheriff controls the local booking file. GDC controls the state offender record. GBI and the responsible registering agency handle registry data. A news publisher or commercial site controls its own copy, subject to applicable Georgia law.
State the exact error and attach the authoritative record that supports the change. A later dismissal or record restriction may be relevant, but it does not permit one agency to alter another agency's database. Follow each source's correction or removal process separately.
For qualifying commercial mugshot websites, the Attorney General describes a no-charge written removal process under O.C.G.A. 10-1-393.5. That process has defined qualifying circumstances. It is not a broad promise that all search results or official records will disappear.
Quitman Court Records Without Photos
A photograph is not required to trace the legal result. The sheriff's discharge record supplies the day, discharge order, and issuing court. The Clerk of Superior Court can supply public disposition and sentence records for matters filed there, while the Probate and Magistrate Court can explain local warrant and first-stage process within its authority.
Use booking date, charge, and case number to connect the jail entry to the court file. This is more reliable than matching faces on a news page. A disposition can show why an old photograph no longer reflects the outcome, even though the historical image may remain with its source.
Restriction or sealing is case-specific. Do not assume a later order removed every image held by every source. Obtain the order, identify each record owner, and follow the process for that system.
Avoid the Wrong Quitman Mugshot
Quitman County is headquartered in Georgetown. The City of Quitman is in Brooks County, where a different sheriff and jail operate. Searches for a Quitman jail photograph can therefore point to the wrong county even when the city name looks correct.
Confirm the agency before using an image. A Quitman County record should trace to the Quitman County Sheriff's Office, Georgetown-Quitman County, the Pataula Judicial Circuit, or a state system tied to the correct case. Brooks County material should not be relabeled as a Quitman County booking.
Apply the same caution to news and third-party mirrors. Check incident location, arresting agency, booking date, and court. If the source offers none of those details, treat the photograph as unverified and return to the official record.
